How and why to keep a non-toxic home with natural, organic, and safe cleaning products. A testimony and benefits of switching to cleaner cleaning products.
Home is where the heart is. And would you want to put your heart in an atmosphere filled with chemicals and toxins? I sure wouldn’t. My view on healing holistically has encouraged me to keep natural and organic cleaning products in my home and here’s why!

It seems like it would be an obvious “Well, I wouldn’t” right? So why do we sometimes knowingly buy or keep brands that use tons of chemicals/unpronounceable ingredients in our homes?
Convenience? Price? Performance? …Because that’s just what most people have done our whole lives? Habit?
Last year, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was sudden, traumatic, and terrifying. My mom has always been a healthy eater and exercises regularly. She is one of the healthiest people I know. Her cancer was environmentally induced rather than genetically. Meaning, it was caused by something in her environment rather than something totally uncontrollable (like genetics). It made me wonder what about her environment caused it…of course there could be thousands of factors and variables at play (maybe things from her childhood, maybe exposure to things outside her (my childhood) home), but what if it had been preventable?
For decades, Americans have turned to commercially-encouraged products that will “do the trick” at an inexpensive price. But these products are full of toxins. Isn’t it a little alarming that some of these “household” chemicals have been banned over the years and are even illegal in other countries?
Meanwhile, scientific studies are increasingly showing the link between autoimmune conditions, cancers, reproductive issues, and other health issues with exposure to chemicals in our environment. We very well may not know the long-term effects of the household products that we grew up with are in our bodies and/or what they are doing to our internal systems and cells. (I am not a doctor and am basing this on my own research/experience/opinion of correlation and causation.)
To me, it’s not worth the risk to use chemical products on a regular basis. I would rather use homemade natural cleaning products or buy natural & organic cleaning products at a slightly higher price (although I have actually found some great, more efficient prices) now than pay for my health later.
Many believe an organic lifestyle is a way to be closest to God’s natural Earth. And I think there’s so much truth in this. Even if you aren’t religious, there are so many benefits to choosing more natural options.
This might start out as a few small swaps to some, but I think it’s increasingly becoming the norm to be toxin-free and use organic cleaning products.
