Is Oatmeal Paleo?

I was honestly really surprised to learn that rolled oats were not Paleo-friendly! Because the Paleo diet is 100% grain-free, rolled oats are not included in it! But, If the Paleo diet doesn’t include oats, how does one eat oatmeal, granola, etc. one may wonder?! Well no worries…just because the Paleo diet is grain-free doesn’t mean you can’t have oatmeal and grain-free granola that is JUST as delicious as anything made with oats!

Paleo Oatmeal

I used almond meal as the base for this. All you need to accompany that is a few other ingredients and the magic of a blender and you will have a warm, wonderful bowl and a delicious Paleo breakfast!

This recipe actually has an amazing consistency that I may prefer to normal oatmeal…the almond meal makes it slightly nutty and the banana gives it a wonderful sweetened touch. The maple syrup is an optional addition if you like it a little more on the sweet side.

And the best part is, you can top it with anything you want! Berries, nuts, honey, more coconut flakes, cacao nibs, chocolate chips, almond butter…the options are endless!

Paleo No-Oatmeal

Equipment

  • Blender, saucepan

Ingredients

  • 1 Banana
  • 1/2 c. Almond Milk
  • 1/2 c. Almond Meal
  • 2 tbsp. Maple Syrup Optional
  • Pinch Cinnamon

Instructions

Recipe:

  • In a saucepan, heat up the almond milk over the stove until near boiling.
  • Transfer it to a blender and blend it with a banana.
  • Add in the almond meal, shredded coconut flakes, maple syrup, and cinnamon and pulse until smooth.
  • Put it in a bowl and top it with your favorite toppings!
