These are 3 of my favorite life-changing books that have helped me be my best self and live my best life! 


3 Life-Changing Books: My Favorites this year

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been an avid reader. I love good fiction novels, but lately I’ve been reading more non-fiction, self-help books and have been so pleasantly suprised. I used to think self-help books were cheesy and that I was too good for them, but that was definitely a limiting belief I held that was holding me back from a wealth of knowledge.

There is a reason all of these books are best-sellers. There is nothing wrong with reading something that expands your mind and/or your heart!

Life can be really tough! Figuring out who you are, what you want to do, and how to do it is never an easy answer, but these 3 books really helped me gather some clarity. They are all a little different and I’ll give you more information below, but I wanted to share the 3 life-changing books I’ve read recently that I hope can help anyone feeling in need of a little guidance or more self-awareness!

  1. The Defining Decade, by Dr. Meg Jay

     If you are in your twenties, this book is for you! It was SO helpful in helping me figure out my life, what I want to do, and who I want to do it with. It dives deep into career, relationships, and self – all things I was a little unsure of before reading this. The author is a therapist who specializes in helping “twenty-somethings” navigate their life and it highlights the importance of our twenties and how our choices in this decade will impact the rest of our life. If you are not in your twenties, this book can still be incredibly helpful! It makes a great gift for anyone graduating college or high school as well!
  2. The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery, by Ian Morgan Cron and Suzanne Stabile

    If you haven’t heard of the Enneagram (which I hadn’t before reading this book), it’s an incredible personality-based numerical system that can reveal a lot about you and how you work, where you succeed, where you may need to grow, etc. This book has been used in Christian theology quite often, but is extremely relevant whether you are religious or not. The author is hilarious and this book is SO insightful. I realized immediately that I am a ‘1w2’ on the Enneagram scale (The Perfectionist, with a bit of The Helper). I learned so much about how to use my strengths and weaknesses to be my best self and highest spiritual self. You can also learn a ton about those around you and the best way to work with them. Win win.
  3. You Can Heal Your Life, by Louise Hay

    Louise Hay is one of the top-regarded authors for self-love. So many of my mentors have read this book and sworn by the positive impact it had on their life. I truly felt the same after reading it! This book teaches that everything we recieve in life is a reflection of the love we feel for ourselves. It will open your heart up to yourself, abundance, guidance from the Universe, and seeing beauty in everything. Her writing is truly a gift and if you’re feeling stuck, unhappy, or lost, this is a fabulous read.
